What is flower farming really like?

I’m excited to share that the new documentary video series, which shares the honest and authentic story of what flower farming is really like, is now available to watch. The series, The Beautiful Pursuit, was created by Floret, a flower farm in Washington state. You can read about the background to the video series here.
The idea behind the series was to go beyond the way flower farming is often portrayed on social media and instead illustrate what it really takes to bring local flowers to our community. If you watch it, you will see some interview clips with me, as well as some video footage from Common Farm.
When you buy flowers from our farm, you’re not only receiving beautiful blooms—you’re also supporting a way of life that requires dedication, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to sustainability. This series shows why your support means so much to farms like ours.
The new documentary series is broken into three separate short films:
Chapter 1: Called By Flowers
In Chapter 1: Called by Flowers, you’ll hear from flower farmers, including myself, as we talk about how we got started flower farming. Our stories are all unique, but you’ll see that there are common themes—a desire to live intentionally, to work in harmony with nature, and to spread beauty and kindness through flowers. Look out for clips of Common Farm and me!
Chapter 2: Living The Dream
In Chapter 2: Living The Dream flower farmers talk about the gap between public perception and the daily realities of flower farming, sharing what we wish people understood about the true nature of our work. Can you spot Common Farm Flowers in the footage?
Chapter 3: Beauty Prevails
In Chapter 3: Beauty Prevails you’ll hear from flower farmers, as we talk about what drives us to get up each morning and begin again. While farming has its challenges and setbacks, it remains beautiful, in all senses of the word. Teacake has her few seconds of fame in this chapter!
