April News
Well, you are a lovely lot. We are usually quiet at this time of year, between Mothering Sunday and Easter, but you are ordering and ordering your bouquet deliveries in such numbers that I’ve had to sell out for this week. However, never fear, we will have lots of stock to send for Easter next week. We’ll send flowers out on Tuesday and Wednesday (for delivery Wednesday and Thursday) the week before Easter, because Good Friday is a bank holiday, which may not mean much to all of us stuck at home, but means the couriers don’t deliver then. We’ll have tulips and narcissi and camassia and cowslips and anemones and ranunculus and blossom and all sorts of goodies all grown here to send out in bouquets for you. So long as the couriers will collect from us we will deliver and so far, so good.
Since the kids are home from school for the foreseeable, I’ve decided that my thirteen year old is to become the producer of a series of youtube clips with which we plan to entertain you during lockdown. So far we’ve posted the #30stemchallenge (have you had a go?) which has done remarkably well given that the thirteen year old says it’s lame, badly filmed, should have been sideways (?!?!?! – is this a technical term?) and more, no doubt, well deserved, criticism, and inspired lots of posts from followers across twitter, facebookand Instagram. As soon as I’ve finished this missive, we will edit yesterday’s post on how to sow a small vegetable patch, and then my morning stroll around the farm cutting three hundred stems for today’s orders. I think we should do an Easter wreath post – I wonder if I can source some little chocolate eggs somewhere… So do please have a look at our channel, sign up, and remember to click on the bell so you’ll get a ping when I’ve posted a new clip. Of course we are updating our Twitter, facebook and Instagramfeeds most days, mostly with a flaary post, so do follow along if you find a flower cheering.
And now for an apology: Forgive me! I still haven’t written individually to all you lovely students who have booked places on our workshops. We are working hard on creating a place where we can hold a version of these workshops on line, which should give you something to be going on with. Obviously, as soon as things begin to get back to normal we will reschedule the workshop dates and you will all be invited to come and take your places in our lovely studio barn here at Common Farm in Somerset. In the meantime hold your collective breaths.
Good luck, stay well, happy growing, and I’ll see you on line very soon!
