March on the farm
Here in the greenhouse seeds sown just after Valentine’s day are pinging up all over.
On days with warmer weather, it’s worth opening up the greenhouse door and taking lids off germinating seedlings so that they don’t cook! But then don’t forget to close the greenhouse door as temperatures drop fast from about three o’clock.
Outside we are busy mulching the beds, and cutting back last year’s perennials.
We aim to have a cut flower garden in full flower for the beginning of April, and every morning on my mooch about with Tea Cake the border terrier this seems more and more likely. You’d have thought that after nearly eleven years of growing flowers for sale I’d know that the garden will flower in time, but I will admit that every year I’m amazed.
