Come on a workshop at Common Farm
The new term starts and of course we have workshop here at Common Farm Flowers. We've been so flat out with weddings though, that I've failed to really blog about them. So this week we have Grow Your Own Cut Flower Patch tomorrow (tuesday,) and our lovely Hnd-tied bouquet workshop on Wednesday. The two days go very well together if you fancy doing both.
On our Grow Your Own Cut Flower Patch workshop you come and have a good look round our flower fields here at Common Farm, and we show you how you can translate some of the things we do here to make your domestic garden enormously productive: from creating raised beds, to mulching and feeding, we look first at creating beds where your cut flower patch can thrive. Then we think about successional sowing, how much you might so, how much you need, and then we sow you a whole garden to take home with you. Because of the time of year we'll very likely take some cuttings to overwinter too tomorrow, as well as maybe prick out some of our spare biennials for visitors to take home. It's a great fun day with masses to learn, in a small and very friendly group, with a delicious lunch and lots of tea and cake to keep you going too. We start at 10am and finish around 3pm. If you book online tonight I'll see your booking and make sure to send you instructions for how to get here etc in plenty of time. We are between Wincanton and Bruton in Somerset, about two miles from the Tinker's Hill interchange on the A303, so easy to get to.
On Wednesday we have our hand-tied bouquet workshop. Again, a great fun day, in which we wander round the garden, everyone with a bucket which they can fill with flowers - as many as you like! Then having cut masses of goodies, we bring them into the flower studio and we spend the rest of the day arranging them. You'll make at least a hand-tied bouquet (with the proper florist's twist, and aquapacked like a pro and everything,) as well as a jam jar posy, and maybe other goodies too, depending on the time available. Again, we start at 10am and finish around 3pm, and I'll watch out for any last minute bookings and make sure I ping you instructions for finding us straight away.
For both workshops you might want to bring wellies, as there is a heavy dew these mornings, though hopefully the weather will be as glorious as it's been for the past few days. So if you fancy treating yourself come along! Be lovely to see you.
