Join flower farmer and florist Georgie Newbery as she takes you through her dahlia growing and harvesting year.

Dahlias are enormously popular as both gorgeous border plants and cut flowers.  Georgie has spent years refining her dahlia growing systems so that she can produce a spectacular crop without onerous amounts of work.

In this workshop Georgie describes the five steps she takes each year to ensure her dahlias give her exactly the wow factor she needs as a flower farmer, from high summer to the first frosts.  A keen rationaliser of works, Georgie’s system will not take too much of your time but will give you flowers the envy of your neighbours.

This workshop is ideal for both the hobby grower and flower farmer and includes information on why or not you might lift your dahlias, the different ways you can store, how to mulch, various whys and wherefores of dahlia propagation, growing on, planting out, feeding, watering and harvest.  Georgie finishes with top tips for conditioning and arranging your dahlias for wow factor and good vase life.

A member of the RHS Dahlia Trials Committee Georgie is a keen dahlia enthusiast as well as an expert grower.

If you love dahlias and want to learn more about arranging with them you might also like our Dahlia Hand Tie Demo, or buy the demo and the workshop in our special dahlia bundle

If you are also interested in growing roses successfully, then our Flourishing Flowers bundle of workshops might be of interest. This bundle of workshops includes the roses workshop and the dahlia workshop.

Please note:

The workshop takes place on Zoom and lasts around two hours. There will be a maximum of 15 participants.

We will be in touch a few days before the workshop with your joining instructions. If you’ve not received this email 48 hours beforehand please email nicola@commonfarmflowers.com but do please first check your junk / spam items and make sure you are checking the inbox of the email address you used to book your place.

We will send recordings and notes of workshops within 7 days of the session taking place, but usually much sooner than this.

All our online workshops work well if you can't attend live. Simply book your place as if you were coming along and we will send you the recordings and notes afterwards, as above.
