We've taken our popular Career Change Flower Farming workshop online....Creating a flower farm and making a living from it is a dream held dear by many.  Come on this day and flower farmer and florist Georgie Newbery will help turn that dream into a reality.

In this online workshop, Georgie will show you how her experience of growing flowers for sale since 2010 has taught her which flowers are best to grow, how to make sure she has a full season of flowers, and enough stock for all her commissions. She’ll take you through sales and marketing as well as planning your flower farming year.  Georgie started off selling bunches of sweet peas from a barrow at the front of her house: see how the business has evolved from growing and sending 2,000 bouquets by post a year, creating flowers for weddings and events, and teaching inspiring, informative and enabling workshops for hundreds students a year.  It all started with a patch the size of an allotment…

While making sure that you are realistic about how much you can hope to take home financially from such a venture, and showing you how to practically combine the time you have available, with the flowers you want to grow, and the money in your pocket at the end of the day, Georgie will give your a truly inspirational day.

You’ll learn how to manage your year to make sure you are making the most of the flowery opportunities you have to make a living doing something you love.  And at the foundation of it all will be Georgie’s insistence that you learn how to run your cashflow as the most important part of your venture, closely followed by your marketing strategy.

Lots of people can grow flowers.  Georgie will show you how to grow them strategically and for a realistic profit, using your time effectively, so that you can enjoy earning a living doing something that you love.

The online workshop will take place over the course of one day, with the modules / timings broken down roughly as follows:

The modules are:

  • Growing flowers for sale and profit 10.00am -12.00pm
  • Design your flower farm and plan your flower farming year 12.30pm - 2.30pm
  • Social media and marketing for flower growers 3.00pm - 5.00pm

The maximum number attending the workshop will be 20 people and there will be plenty of time to ask questions and interact.

There will be workbooks to go with the workshop, and virtual tours of the flower farm at Common Farm to illustrate and inspire.

The course has given me plenty of answers to questions I had and also sent me away with further questions for myself and things to research and think about constructively. Would highly recommend."

"I’ve just spent a day on your online course Career Change Flower Farming. I loved it, you’ve been so generous with all your information. Worth every penny! I don’t actually own a field yet, but I’m off to buy a year planner! Thank you."

Why do a workshop or demo with Common Farm Flowers?

Georgie Newbery has been building her small business growing flowers for sale and creating floristry with material she’s grown on the farm since 2010.  She is a Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Floristry Judge, RHS dahlia trials committee member, and Garden Media Guild New Talent Award Judge.

Georgie does not see other flower farmers and florists as competition, but rather as potential colleagues and collaborators.  Georgie knows that it is in her interest to teach her students everything she knows.  And she spends a great deal of time talking to other flower farmers and small business owners and learning as much as she can around the subject of running small businesses and farming gardens and small acreage.

There are no secrets held back from you at a Common Farm Flowers workshop.
